Regional Tango Festivals

There are a growing number of these gatherings of social dancers from around the country. Typically, the focus is on lots of dancing (often featuring all-night milongas), the festivals feature top DJs and wonderful teachers, but the big draw for most of us is the opportunity to dance with really wonderful tangueros from all over teh country (and in some cases from abroad as well). These events are typically very affordable and local organizers often coordinate housing for visiting dancers. If you are looking to branch out in your tango experience check out the following...

August 4-6 - Meet in the Middle - Mt. Vernon, MO This is the midwest's own neighborhood festival. Great feel, lovely dancing, relaxed atmosphere and fabulous hospitality. Come meet your tango neighbors!

September 1-3 Denver Labor Day tango festival. This is the midwests oldest and most established festival drawing fine dancers from all over the country. Marathon dancing, great teachers, and a warm friendly atmosphere are part of the formula for one this countries most succesful tango events.

September 27-30, Barcelona, Spain Tango Neta -ok, this isn't exactly in the neighborhood but geography is not what it once was...Tango Neta festival is something special, an experiment merging music and dance disciplines in a poetic and profound manner. I've been involved with 3 of these and I'm sorry to miss this one, but due to visa issues and KC teaching plans I'm not able to join this fall, but you should!
